Seattle Reign FC, playing in the new National Women's Soccer League, becomes the first professional women's team in the United States to speak on behalf of You Can Play.
Appearing for Seattle Reign FC: University of Georgia alumna and goalkeeper Michelle Betos; Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and Arizona State alumna, forward Liz Bogus; Olympic gold medalist and US Women's National Team member, the University of Portland's Megan Rapinoe; Fishlock; head coach and general manager Laura Harvey, the former coach of Arsenal Ladies Football Club (England, 2008-2012); captain of the US Women's World Cup U-20 team (2008) and University of Portland alumna, midfielder Keelin Winters; and assistant coach Sam Laity.
In announcing the team's partnership, midfielder Jess Fishlock - also the captain of the Welsh national team - said, "I am excited that we are partnering with You Can Play and helping them take the steps that are needed to eradicate homophobia in professional sports. It's something I support 100% and I am honored to play for the first professional women's team aligned with this cause."
